Pictures released in Syria of Bashar Al-Assad visiting his troops in Damascus suburbs of Jobar on new years eve and sharing dinner with his commanders. He is seen arriving in a black jacket (bulletproof?) and taking a peek at enemy lines from within a bunker.
Maybe indicating to the world he is doing well and intends to hang around for some more years as Syria's president.
