The Chung Shyang II, a drone designed by the Chungshan Institute of Science and Technology under Taiwan's defense ministry is capable of carry out reconnaissance missions over the coastline of southeastern China.Ministry officials said 32 of the unmanned aerial vehicles entered service with the ROC Army Aviation Special Forces Command in March.

Although the drone is designed primarily to conduct tactical reconnaissance missions over the eastern and southern coast of Taiwan, it has the range to fly across the Taiwan Strait and could help locate People's Liberation Army positions with its optical flow sensor.
