Younger political commissars appointed to PLA regions

New political commissars have been appointed to China's seven PLA military regions. They are all slightly younger than their predecessors, which may offer more stability for the administration of President Xi Jinping, reports Hong Kong newspaper Ta Kung Pao.Lieutenant General Miao Hua was promoted from deputy political commissar to political commissar of the Lanzhou Military Region after his predecessor Li Changcai retired. Li's retirement means there are no more commissars in their 70s and the seven new commissars were all born after the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949.

Miao, Chengdu Military Region commissar Zhu Fuxi and his counterpart in Nanjing, Zheng Weiping, are 59, while Beijing commissar Liu Fulian, Shenyang commissar Zhu Yiming and Guanzhou commissar Wei Liang are 61 years old. The oldest commissar is Du Hengyan in the Jinan Military Region at age 63.
All of the commissars with the exception of Zhu Fuxi are field army commissars. All have worked at various departments such as the PLA Air Force, the People's Armed Police, Marine Corps and PLA National Defence University.
