US Navy LCS-4 Colorado test-fired a Norwegian advanced Naval Strike Missile (NSM) anti-ship missile


The United States Navy test-fired a Norwegian advanced NSM anti-ship missiles from LCS-4 Colorado Littoral Combat Ship in the waters near the coast of Southern California successfully hit a moving target at sea.

The Naval Strike Missile (NSM) is an anti-ship and land-attack missile developed by the Norwegian company Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KDA).

The original Norwegian name was Nytt sjømålsmissil (literally New sea target missile, indicating that it is the successor of the Penguin missile)

The crew of the littoral combat ship USS Coronado (LCS 4) successfully performed a live-fire demonstration of a Kongsberg Naval Strike Missile (NSM) during missile testing operations off the coast of Southern California, Sept. 23.

During the test, the Norwegian-made Kongsberg NSM was launched from the deck of Coronado and scored a direct hit on its intended target, a Mobile Ship Target (MST).

The Kongsberg NSM is a long range precision strike missile designed to be launched from a variety of ships against a variety of targets.
