Chinese PLA General Xu Caihou confesses in bribes for promotion scam

Xu Caihou, former vice chairman of China's Central Military Commission, has confessed to taking bribes for promotion, said Chinese military prosecutors on Tuesday.The investigation into Xu's case has concluded and Xu was found to have taken advantage of his position to assist the promotions of others, accepting huge bribes personally and through his family, and to have sought profits for others in exchange for bribes.

The Communist Party of China Central Committee expelled Xu from the Party and handed his case to prosecutors in June at a meeting presided over by President Xi Jinping. Xu had been under investigation since March when he was arrested from his hospital bed at 301 Military Hospital in Beijing by dozens of armed policemen.Xu was CMC vice chairman from 2004 to 2012 and was made a general in 1999. Xu has been dishonorably discharged from military service with his rank of general revoked.
