India to provide Nepal Army a 14-seater ALH Dhruv Mark 3 chopper on SAARC summit sidelines

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hand over the chopper to Nepal during his participation in the 18th South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Summit.

Prime Minister Modi will hand over the helicopter to the Nepal Army amidst a program to be organized at the Army Pavilion Tundilkhel upon his arrival on Tuesday. According to a source, at first Modi will hand over the helicopter to Prime Minister Sushil Koirala and then Koirala will hand over the chopper to Chief of Army Staff General Gaurav Shumsher JB Rana.

“Indian Prime Minster will hand over the chopper to the Nepal Army amidst a special program at Army Pavilion Tundikhel on Tuesday,” said Nepal Army Spokesperson Brigadier General Jagadish Chandra Pokharel, adding, “The helicopter, which Nepal is receiving as aid, has been already brought to Kathmandu on Saturday.”

Dhruv Mark 3 chopper manufactured by Indian state-owned aerospace and defense company Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd will be kept at the Army Pavilion Tundikhel during handover program.

The chopper is being provided to Nepal in accordance with the past agreement reached between Nepal and India.
