Royal Malaysian Navy Submarine KD Tun Razak tests Black Shark Torpedo

Sneaky KD Tun Razak gets at periscope depth before firing Black Shark torpedoes. 








Submarine KD Tun Razak (KD TRZ) has successfully implemented the Black Shark torpedo firing in the waters of the South China Sea (SCS) at 11:13 on 31st October. Shooting launched from strategic asset Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) has been successful on the target surface of a passenger ferry which was modified for the purpose. Torpedo launched at a predetermined distance is right on target and destroy and sink it.

Shooting has been a historic times, when the inaugural submarine torpedo firing its country since the nation's first submarine KD Tunku Abdul Rahman (KD TAR) arrived in Port Klang on 3 September 2009. In addition, this shooting is shooting for the first time Black Shark torpedo since introduced by manufacturers Whitehead Alenia Sistemi torpedo subacquee (WASS) of Italy.

This shooting operation involving naval assets help of services and Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) as an asset for the security of the area, team goals, recording and analysis. Among the assets involved RMN is JEBAT KD, KD Terengganu, KD Kasturi, KD LAKSAMANA TAN PUSMAH, Fennec helicopter, submarine rescue ship MEGA Designation and Tempur Bot CB 90 and Tim Divers, while RMAF Also involved is the best B 200T and 725 EC .

Secretary of Development (SUB PEMB) MOD, Tuan Haji Mohd Shahbudin bin Ibrahim and Fleet Commander, Vice Admiral the Hon Dato 'Mohamad Roslan bin Mohamad Ramli witnessed the shooting of the EC 725 aircraft platform in the South China Sea. Torpedo-firing exercises named Op 1/2014 BARRACUDA is run by Commander Submarine Force, Chief Rear Admiral Abdul Rahman bin Hj Ayob as Exercise Director. Shooting success proved the ability of each service (interoperability) between elements in the ATM.
