Vietnam's High Naval Command reviewed the construction of two Tarantul-Class corvettes and provided advice for completing the rest of the boats detailed in the contract.
The HQ-377 and HQ-378 were ordered as part of a 2009 plan to build six Project 1241.8 Molniya (Lightning) missile boats at the Ba Son Shipyard in Ho Chi Minh City with the assistance of Almaz Central Design Bureau in Russia.The corvettes were delivered to Vietnam People's Navy in June of 2014.
