On December 20, at the foot of snow-capped mountains PLA garrison in Tibet practiced confronting an "enemy" at an altitude of over 5000 meters in cold and dry environment.

The Chinese have also known to have strengthened the air defense in the Tibetean plateau area with HQ-16A missle battery earlier this year.
