After Pakistan bans Jamaat-ud-Dawa, pressure mounts on Hafiz Saeed to change name of organization

New name will be third name change after Mumbai 2008 attack.

Jamat-ud-Dawah (JuD) spokesman on Thursday said the Foreign Office was giving statements against his organization under pressure from the United States (US) to please India.

In a response to Pakistan’s Foreign Office statement, the JuD spokesman said the full bench of Lahore High Court (LHC) and Supreme Court had given verdicts that JuD is not an outlawed outfit and it is completely free to engage in charity-related activities.

He said his organization would continue its routine of spreading the message of Islam.

Earlier, the Foreign Office spokeswoman, Tasneem Aslam had said that Pakistan has frozen accounts of Hafiz Saeed-led JuD, saying the outfit was listed among the organizations banned by the UN Sanctions Committee.

She said any organisation that makes it to the list ends up with its accounts frozen.
