French optimism that first 24 foreign Rafale fighter jet sale to Egypt could trigger more orders

India should NOT go for this fighter jet. Instead go for SU-30 MKI

Egyptian president Sisi is doing this for paying back the French politically after it helped in the downfall of Morsi.

Egypt has signed the deal to buy 24 Rafale combat jets from France. The five billion euro deal is a seen as a breakthrough for the French defence firm Dassault which has spent years trying to win an export order for the fighter.

Egypt will also get a naval frigate and related military equipment as part of the package.

The official signing comes a year after France won a contract to sell Egypt four frigates for a billion euros. It was the country’s first big contract from Egypt for around 20 years.
