Belarus orders four more Yak-130s

The Belarusian Defense Ministry has signed a contract with the Russian corporation Irkut on buying another lot of four combat training aircraft Yak-130, the press service of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.

The contract was signed during the 12th international aviation and space salon MAKS, which is taking place in the exhibition center Russia in Zhukovsky, Moscow Oblast.

In April 2015 the Belarusian army received four Yak-130 aircraft. Once the new batch arrives, the Belarusian army will have a total of eight Yak-130s. Plans have been made to buy a sufficient number of Yak-130 combat training aircraft by 2020 to replace the L-39 aircraft the Belarusian army has now. The new aircraft will be able to carry out a wider set of missions in comparison with its predecessors.
