Pakistan backed Taliban destroy bridge with landmines
At least two suspected militants were killed in a drone strike on Wednesday near the mountainous Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
According to sources, two missiles were fired from a drone at a house in Speen Thall area – on the confluence of borders between Hangu district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Orakzai – as a result of which two suspected militants of the Haqqani network were killed.
A local official has also identified the militants as Ahsanullah alias Khorai and Nasir Mehsud. The deaths were also confirmed by Station House Officer (SHO) Thall, Ameer Zaman. In two separate drone strikes last week, two militants were killed while another was injured in two drone strikes near the Pak-Afghan border with Kurram Agency.
The first drone hit the house in Badsha Kot area of Lower Kurram Agency and injured one person. The house was completely destroyed in the incident, confirmed the sources. The second drone hit Afghanistan’s Khost area where the US missile targeted a militant hideout killing two terrorists.
Pakistan has repeatedly said that drone strikes on its soil are a violation of its sovereignty. Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mansour was also killed in one of such strikes in 2016.
