The new weaponry system owned by the Indonesian Navy is a warship made in Indonesia manufactured by PT Caputra Mitra Sejati, Banten.

Admiral Siwi says the presence of KRI Albakora-867 will reinforce the Patrol Vessel Unit (Satrol) of Naval Base (Lantamal) X Jayapura, Command Fleet III.

Admiral Siwi Sukma Adji also named and inaugurats Major Sony Sartantyo, who graduated from the 51st Naval Academy, as the first KRI Commander.

"This country has entrusted you to maintain and operate this KRI vessel in accordance with its function. Therefore, I command you to maintain and operate this KRI vessel as well as possible inorder to support the duties of the navy professionally," Siwi told Antara.

The PC-40 patrol vessel, which had just been launched, has a specification length of 45.5 meters, 7.9 meters wide, weighs 220 tons, with a maximum speed of 24 knots, a cruising speed of 18 knots and an economical speed of 15 knots. The vessel is equipped with two radar units (JRC JMR-9225-6XN and JRC JMA-9122-6XA) and has a six-day screen capability.

The naming of "Albakora" is derived from a White Tuna fish known for its speed and endurance in swimming, expecting it to move quickly as a patrol boat and capable of maneuvering fast.

For the Indonesian Navy, the success of building a PC-40 will empower the ability of the domestic industry to reduce dependency towards foreign products.
