The two Bell AH-1S Cobra attack helicopters donated by Jordan are arriving tuesday, November 26 transported by an Antonov An-124 Ruslan heavy strategic airlifter at Clark International Airport, MaxDefense Philippines said in a post in its social networking page.
“The “goodies” arriving today for the Philippine Air Force came from Jordan. Its no other than the Bell AH-1S Cobra attack helicopters. 2 units, both donated by the Kingdom of Jordan to the Philippines,” MaxDefense said after a couple of posts that hinted a delivery for Philippine Air Force (PAF).
“And yes, it comes in light gray almost similar to the PAF’s AgustaWestland AW109E Power armed helicopters,” MaxDefense added.
Last year, President Rodrigo Duterte announced that the Kingdom of Jordan is donating 2 Cobra attack helicopters.
The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) released the Special Allotment Release Order (SARO) for the transfer of AH-1S Cobra Attack helicopters donated by the Kingdom of Jordan on June 3.
The SARO has an amount of PHP 158,204,428.00 “to cover the requirements for the transfer and acceptance of two (2) units AH-1S Cobra Attack Helicopters from the Kingdom of Jordan under the Revised AFP Modernization Program.”
