Besides Army, Philippine Navy also Eyes Indian BrahMos Cruise Missile System





The Philippine Navy, just like the Philippine Army, is eyeing to acquire BrahMos cruise missile system. According to MaxDefense Philippines, the Navy, under Shore-based Anti-ship Missile System Acquisition Project, is planning to acquire 3 batteries.

The Army, under Land-based Missile System Acquisition Project, is looking to acquire 2 batteries.In December 2019, Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said contract for Army’s BrahMos could possibly be signed first half of 2020.

However, COVID-19 pandemic affected many of the projects under the Revised Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Modernization Program.

“The Philippine Army is interested in acquiring this type of missile as it will strengthen our coastal defense operations,” the Philippine Army said in October 2019.
