The Philippine Air Force (PAF) is “embarking on the acquisition of additional medium tactical transport aircraft for the 220th Airlift Wing,” MaxDefense Philippines said in an article June 10.
This acquisition is under Horizon 2 of the current Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Modernization Program.
According to MaxDefense, this acquisition project eyes to acquire 3 more medium tactical transport aircraft. It added that among the platforms being considered are Airbus’ C-295 aircraft and Indonesian Aerospace (PTDI)’s CN-235-220.
The Philippine Air Force is already operating C-295 aircraft from Airbus. Three as medium tactical transport aircraft acquired during Horizon 1, and one acquired through the Command and Control Fixed-Wing Turbo Prop Acquisition Project.
