2014 has been a good year for the Indian Navy. With the commissioning of new assets including using ComSat Rukmani for Network Centric Operations the Indian Navy has started showing the attributes of a blue water navy .Rukmani satellite covers the Indian Navy’s entire area of operations in the Indian Ocean and beyond and handles all data transfers for maritime domain awareness and the entire range of communications and networking needs of the Indian Navy.2014 saw the following major events in the Indian Navy:
- INS Vikramaditya commissioned
- INS Kolkatta commissioned
- INS Sumitra
- INS Arihant starts sea trials
- LCA Naval prototype starts trials in Goa
2000 km range SLBM Sagarika launched
Fifth P-8I maritime patrol aircraft to India
New Indian aircraft carrier INS Vikrant(3rd Aircraft carrier) under construction in Kochi
Submarine communication facility
Offshore patrol vessel INS Sumitra
