Al-Shabaab militants set fire to the Kenyan fighter F-5 jet that crashed in Somalia, the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) said on Friday.

The whereabouts of the pilot are still unknown, KDF spokesman Colonel David Obonyo said in a statement. Al-Shabaab militia reached the site of the crashed aircraft and set it on fire.Obonyo said Thursday the pilot reported mechanical problems before the plane disappeared from radar over the port city of Kismayo.
