Taiwan first batch of Black Hawks to arrive in December 2014
Taiwan will start taking delivery of first batch of 6 UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters from the US from mid-December of this year, Taiwanese Army official said Wednesday.The helicopters will be shipped to Taiwan in seven batches, with the final batch scheduled to arrive in 2018, the official told reporters.
The U.S. and Taiwan governments had signed a deal worth a total of US$3.1 billion in 2010 for 60 UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters.They will be mainly used for transportation by the Army, while 15 of them will be used for disaster relief by the National Airborne Service Corps under the Ministry of the Interior, according to the official.
Sagem seeker chosen for MBDA’s new light antiship missile
Sagem (Safran) announced a contract with partner MBDA to develop and produce the infrared seeker for the upcoming light antiship missile, the ANL/Sea Venom, a joint French-British program launched within the scope of the Lancaster House treaty.Developed by MBDA, this new-generation tactical missile will be deployed by a number of different helicopters, including the Royal Navy’s AW159 Wildcat, and the French navy’s Panther Marine and NH90. It will replace current missiles such as the Sea Skua and AS15TT.
Sagem as contractor for the ANL/Sea Venom seeker has choses the British company Selex ES Ltd to participate in its development and production. Sagem’s seeker for the ANL/Sea Venom is based on uncooled detectors. Operating in demanding environments, the seeker will support the acquisition and tracking of surface targets (fast landing craft, light combat vessels) and land targets.
The seeker will send back images to the aircraft’s cockpit, contributing to the flexibility of the ANL/Sea Venom missile and its different firing modes: man over the loop (MOTL), with the possibility of changing the assigned target during the missile’s flight; or choosing a precise impact point (fire & forget, with lock-on before firing or during the flight, etc.). Sagem is contributing breakthrough uncooled infrared technologies to the ANL/Sea Venom program, based on optronic systems developed for the FELIN soldier modernization system and MMP medium-range missile programs. A long-standing partner to MBDA, Sagem developed and produces the infrared seekers for the Mica IR (infrared), Mistral and MMP missiles.

The Chief of the Air Staff (CEMFA), General Antonio José de Magalhães Araujo Pinheiro, visited on 23 and 24 October the detachment of the Portuguese Air Force in the Baltic Air Policing mission, taking place from Lithuania.
China-built Nigerian Navy Vessel for Completes Sea Tests
The first of two China-built offshore patrol vessels ordered by Nigerian Navy has completed its sea tests and is ready to be delivered to Nigeria's navy.The vessel has a displacement of 1,800 tons and can sail as fast as 21 knots for up to 20 days.A special ship-borne spilled oil recovery device could quickly respond to any oil spill emergency.
The vessel has taken a variety of rigorous tests including sharp turns with stability at high speed.The second OPV vessel is expected to be partially built in Nigeria in an attempt to further enhance the country's shipbuilding capability.
