Pakistan Army Chief General Raheel Sharif on week-long visit to the US

 Raheel Sharif is likely to be more acceptable in Washington after he undertook the recent operations in North Waziristan than his predecessor Gen. Kayani.



COAS General Raheel Sharif has arrived in Washington on a week-long visit to the US.  During the visit, the Army Chief will meet Chairman Joint Chiefs Staff General Martin Dempsey, CENTCOM leaders and State Department officials.

The two sides will discuss measures to promote cooperation in defense and "ensure stability" in Afghanistan.

Pakistan Amry Major - Wasif Hussain Shah of 12 baloch killed by Taliban






Dozens of militants stormed a post of Pakistan Army in the Spera Ghar area of Dattakhel.The gun battle lasted till early Sunday in which five troops - Wasif Hussain Shah of 12 baloch, Subedar Jehangir, Sepoy Ayaz, Sepoy Asif Awan and Sepoy Nazir were killed.

Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan spokesman Ahmadullah Ahmadi threatened that more attacks would be carried out against the Pakistani forces.It was the first time after the government launched the military Operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan on June 15 that the local Taliban carried out an attack on the troops and publicly claimed its responsibility.
