Robberies at charitable institutions helping Pakistan in war on terrorists

After polio workers, charitable institutions providing ambulance services being targeted.


At least 10-15 armed men barged into the ground-plus-four-storey building of the Chhipa Welfare Association located near the FTC flyover, Sharah-e-Faisal, within the limits of the brigade police station and escaped with the looted booty. In similar fashion, Edhi’s office was also robbed by 10 armed men in broad daylight.(video below).

Earlier on Sunday October 19, 2014, in another daring daylight raid, robbers stormed the head office of the Edhi Foundation in Mithadar,Karachi, where they held staffers including renowned philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi hostage before fleeing with valuables worth millions of rupees.

Edhi, who is revered for running one of the country’s largest charities, was sleeping when up to eight gunmen barged into the foundation’s building, which is nestled in Karachi’s congested commercial hub.They broke into storage vaults that contained five kilogrammes of gold, foreign and local currency worth millions of rupees and fled, leaving the worried octogenarian humanitarian worker to deal with the consequences.
