Exercise Talisman Sabre: Battlefield Manoeuvres

The skies of Australia were full of men and machine as the Exercise Talisman Sabre shifts into second gear. The airborne paratroopers from the 3-509th Infantry flew in from Alaska by the mighty C-17 Globemaster aircraft after a 17 hour trip. The Royal New Zealand Air Force's battlefield mobility were on full display as the NH90 Helicopter and the C-130 Hercules Aircraft were used to transport the said troops across the exercise area of Queensland Australia.

Talisman Sabre marks the first time the NH90s have been deployed offshore and is a great opportunity to show their capability and effectiveness in a challenging coalition environment.

Talisman Sabre is the Australian Defence Force's largest warfighting exercise. It involves almost 30,000 troops from the ADF, the US military, the NZDF and Japan's Self-Defense Force. The NZDF has deployed two ships, four aircraft including two NH90 helicopters, 22 Light Armoured Vehicles, 23 other military vehicles and around 620 personnel for the exercise.
