UAE soldier - Captain Hadif Humaid Al Shamsi - martyred in Yemen

The General Command of UAE Armed Forces has announced the martyrdom of Captain Hadif Humaid Al Shamsi, while taking part in the Saudi-led Arab coalition’s Operation Restoring Hope, in Yemen. The General Command of UAE Armed Forces extended its sincere condolences and solace to the family and relatives of the martyr, praying to the Almighty Allah to rest his soul in eternal peace.

Earlier on Saturday, international news wires reported that a Yemeni security officer said an aid worker from the United Arab Emirates was shot dead in the southern Yemen city of Aden by unknown gunmen on Saturday.

“The aid worker was travelling in an armored land cruiser with a group of Emiratis in Aden’s Mansora district. He was shot dead when he exited the vehicle near a store by gunmen pursuing in another car,” said the official.

However, the UAE Armed Forces later confirmed the victim was in fact Captain Hadif Humaid Al Shamsi, not an aid worker.

Fahad Abdulrahman bin Sultan, Deputy Secretary General of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, late on Saturday, denied the reports that Captain Hadif Humaid Al Shamsi, who was martyred in Yemen on Saturday, was part of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority teams there.
