Malaysian Air Force CN235 Plane Crash Lands, Crew Safe

A Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) aircraft has crash landed along the Kuala Selangor coastline early morning today.

The CN-235-220M – M44-07 – was taking part in the flypast rehearsals of the Colours Award ceremony scheduled for next Monday when it developed mechanical trouble about 8.40am, according to Malaysia Defense blog.

Eight people carried by the CN-235 transport plane, based in Subang were reported to be safe after being assisted by local fishermen, said RMAF in a statement today.

It said the RMAF will establish an investigation team to identify the cause of the incident. "The RMAF will also conduct recovery efforts for the aircraft," the statement said.

Kuala Selangor police had earlier said that the plane was a light aircraft and that it had crashed along the Kuala Selangor coastline. The Kuala Selangor Fire and Rescue Department received the emergency call at 8.40am.

Malaysia owns eight Airbus Military/CASA CN-235 Medium-Lift Tactical Transport. Its primary military roles include maritime patrol, surveillance, and air transport.
