"Enemies" using various tactics to harm Pakistan: Pak Lt-Gen Amir Riaz

Commander Southern Command Lt-Gen Amir Riaz on Friday said anti-Pakistan elements are using various tactics to cause harm to the country.

“Pakistan has remained an eyesore for the enemy and they have always resorted to tactics to cause harm to this country,” he said while addressing an event held to commemorate the martyrs under the title Youm-e-Shuhada in Quetta on Friday.

The comment came a day after security forces nabbed an agent of India’s premier spy agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), in Balochistan.

On Thursday, Balochistan Home Minister Sarfaraz Bugti said Indian naval intelligence officer arrested near the Pakistan-Afghan border region of Chaman was an agent of RAW and had been in contact with insurgent commanders in the region.

Lt-Gen Riaz also said that the enemy becomes restless whenever this country starts progressing and causes various obstructions in the way to impede its development.

“Some of our own people, being used by manipulation by the enemy, have declared a war in their own country,” he added.

The Commander Southern Command went on to say that some of these people are being used in the name of cast or creed, religion and others on the basis of the languages they speak.

Lt-Gen Riaz vowed that Pakistan will soon attain victory in the ongoing war on terror, saying the enemy must know that the brave sons of the soil know well to defend their country.

He pledged that they will not forget the martyrs sacrificed their lives and they will remain alive in the hearts of the nation.

Addressing the occasion, IG Frontier Corps Maj-Gen Sher Afghan said terrorism is breathing its last and the nation will not let terror return to Balochistan.

Earlier today, Pakistan’s foreign office lodged protest with India over its “spying activities” in Balochistan and Karachi, conveying concerns over the arrest of Kul Yadav Bhoshan from Chaman.
