HAFR Al BATIN: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was received by Khadim al Haramain al Sharifain King Salman bin Abdulaziz in the Saudi city of Hafr al-Batin on Thursday evening.

The prime minister was accompanied by Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi, while the Saudi king was accompanied by Prince Muhammad bin Salman, deputy crown prince and minister of defence, said a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs here on Friday.

During their warm and friendly exchanges, King Salman bin Abdulaziz expressed his deep appreciation for the prime minister for accepting his invitation to witness the joint military exercises. He said the exercises enhanced cooperation and understanding between the armed forces of the two countries and reinforced the bilateral relations.

The prime minister thanked King Salman bin Abdulaziz for Saudi Arabia’s strong and consistent support to Pakistan and laid stress on enhanced cooperation between the two countries, particularly in commercial, economic and investment sectors.

The prime minister also expressed his admiration for the successful completion of the joint military exercises that brought together contingents from more than 20 Muslim countries. He stated that this would promote unity among them and demonstrate their resolve to step up efforts to counter militancy and terrorism.

On his way back to Pakistan on Friday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived in the holy city of Madina to pay a visit to the tomb of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

On his arrival at Madina Airport, Deputy Governor of Madina Abdul Mohsin al Muneef received the prime minister. Chief of the Army Staff General Raheel Sharif and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi also accompanied the prime minister.
