The Ninth MRRV Patrol Ship Arrived in the Philippines





CAMTO, In Manila arrived the ninth 44-meter multi-purpose patrol ship MRRV class "Parola" (Parola), built by the Japanese company Japan Marine United Corporation (JMUC) for the Coast Guard of the Philippines.

MRRV-4410 "Bagacay", held on May 31 at the Coast Guard headquarters in Manila, was attended by representatives of the command and personnel of the Coast Guard led by Rear Admiral Rolando Legaspi.

As reported by CAMTO, in December 2013, the Philippines signed an agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on providing a loan to improve the capabilities of the Coast Guard. In 2015, the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Philippines concluded a contract with JMUC for the supply of ten 44-meter ships. Funding for the supply is mainly from the Japanese ODA (official development assistance) program. The loan of the Japan International Cooperation Agency covers 7.37 billion Filip. Peso from the total cost of 8.8 billion pesos (181 million dollars at the time of signing). The remaining funds, 1.434 billion pesos, are covered by the Philippines itself.

The main ship of the series, MRRV-4401 "Tubbatah", arrived in the Philippines on August 18, 2016 and in October entered the combat composition of the Coast Guard fleet. The seventh and eighth ships of the series, (MRRV-4408) Cape San Agustin and MRRV-4409 Cabra entered the combat staff of the Coast Guard of the Philippines on March 28, 2018. As expected, the delivery of all ships will be completed before the end of 2018.

The ships are designed to protect the rule of law and ensure security at sea, conduct search and rescue operations, fire fighting, environmental protection.

The MRRV ships are built on the basis of the Raizan patrol ship project, which is currently operated by the Japanese Coast Guard. The length of the ship MRRV is 44 m, width - 7,5 m, draft - 4 m, crew - 25 people, including five officers. The ship is equipped with two engines MTU 12V 4000 M93L with a capacity of 2580 kW. The maximum speed is 27 knots, the cruising speed is 15 knots, the cruising range is 1500 nautical miles. In the aft can be placed one inflatable boat with a rigid body. MRRV is designed taking into account the possibility of placing weapons in the bow, but so far information about the armament of ships is not disclosed.
