Radio signals communicating with India's Mars Orbitor Mission(MOM) take 20 minutes and 47 seconds to reach MOM and return.
Indian space scientists will attempt to insert MOM into the Martian orbit, at 7.15am on September 24. The spacecraft is travelling at a speed of 22km/second. The challenge before Isro scientists would be to reduce this drastically to 1.6km/second, so that spacecraft can be inserted into the desired orbit.
