Air Force of Zimbabwe (AFZ) crashes killing 2 pilots

AN Air Force of Zimbabwe (AFZ) plane crashed in Harare Thursday afternoon killing two pilots, officials have confirmed.The SF260 trainer aircraft crashed soon after take-off from Charles Prince Airport around 12 mid-day.Officials said the plane nosedived into Willdale settlement in Mt Hampden, killing the pilot and the co-pilot on the spot.

“The names of the deceased are being withheld and will be announced after their next of kin have been advised,” said AFZ spokesman Squadron Leader Simon Matingwina.No one on the ground was injured and investigations have been launched into the cause of the crash.
Said AFZ commander, Air Marshal Perence Shiri said: “We are deeply saddened by the aircraft accident, which has claimed the lives of our officers.
