The US Navy’s MQ-8C Fire Scout unmanned helicopter returned from a five-day test period aboard USS Jason Dunham (DDG 109) on Dec. 19 after successfully completing its first ship-based flights. The tests were carried out off the Virginia coast in preparation for operational test in 2015.
Northrop Grumman has delivered 30 MQ-8Bs out of the 40 unmanned helis which the the Navy plans to procure to support LCS and other air-capable ships.
