The Jordanian jet that was probably shot down
U.S. Central Command has dismissed claims that Islamic State fighters shot down a Jordanian F-16. IS supporters claimed to have shot down the plane which by a heat-seeking missile near Raqqa. US military officials are saying they are trying to ascertain if the F-16 suffered a mechanical fault before crashing.
The crash was the first coalition warplane lost since air strikes began in Syria in September, and marks a propaganda field day for militants.
Jordan sold some of its F-16s to the Pakistan air Force in May 2014.
