US Air Force Blackbird SR71 turns 50

Blackbird SR71 was conceived because of the U-2 spy planes were being easily tracked by Soviet radars in the late 50s and early 60s. At one instance on 1 May 1960 a United States U-2 spy plane was shot down in Soviet airspace by by a S-75 Dvina (SA-2 Guideline) surface-to-air missile and crashed in Sverdlovsk.

First flight 22nd December 2014. Lockheed martin
