Pakistan Army and the government are fighting the Taliban on two fronts. On the battlefield and in the gallows.
Inmates on death row for terrorist activities will most likely be hanged in the coming days after a de facto ban on execution was lifted. This comes in the wake of a massacre at a school in Peshawar last week where 148 people were killed most of them children.Despite a threat from Taliban for punitive reprisals, the Pakistan government has decided to go ahead with the execution of 55 prisoners being held in jails for terrorism related charges.
Meanwhile protest have continued outside the red Mosque in Islamabad demanding the arrest of the cleric for inciting hateful speech and openly supporting the Taliban.
